Bloodlline

Mulder receives cryptic photographs that lead him and Scully to suspect that Samantha, or one of her relatives, is still alive and well...but this becomes more complicated as it becomes clear who this person is. This takes place late season 6, pre-William. This will be Mulder-Scully romance, but it's a slow burn with lots of angst.

It’s always a delight to see an old WIP get concluded, especially when it happens two decades later. Cecily-Sass’s decision to finish her wonderful story is excellent.

What stands out in “Bloodline” is the way she portrays Mulder and Scully—their non-communication, their shared history, and their very essence. The cryptic photographs, the references to Samantha, and the slow-burn romance create a suspenseful underlying mystery. The plot, skillfully woven into the nanobots arc (including our favourite ratboy Alex Krycek!), kept me hooked from the start. Cecily-Sass’s take on Krycek, his worldview, and his humour adds another layer to the plot—a brilliant idea executed beautifully.

"Bloodline" is a wonderful story that captures the heart of the X-Files! Well worth the read!

A very interesting interview with the author can also be found in Lilydale's Old School X series.
