Gates of Hell

In the first case after her remission from cancer, Scully is forced to confront a disturbing time in her past. Ten bodies are found buried outside an abandoned hospital in Northern California, all desecrated in a way that is reminiscent of horrifying medical experiments that took place there almost fifty years ago. While navigating the complexities of a changing relationship, Scully and Mulder work to uncover a long-buried evil and hope to solve a cold case that has haunted Scully for years.

If you haven't read “Gates of Hell” by alienqueequeg run, don't walk.

A horrifying case that had me at the edge of my seat and wonderful Mulder/Scully banter that made me smile all the way through—I couldn't stop reading.

This is so good. The atmosphere is its own character and I love how they connected Scully to the case and made it personal.

I have to say I felt quite sorry for Ellen. She was only in one chapter but her fear was portrayed so vividly. Poor girl, what a way to go.

And the way they set up Mulder and Scully makes me smile a lot. Mulder being preoccupied and oblivious and flirty, Scully debating internally and believing more than she lets on and being jealous to her own chagrin — I'm loving it all. So them.

What a wonderful fic. The last chapters had me on the edge of my seat — I couldn't put it down. Full of suspense, interesting characters, a well-thought-out plot, Mulder and Scully and their banter is spot on and the writing is amazing.

Reading this fic was a true treat!
